Help Find Local County Veterans

Help Us Find Photos of Local County Veterans

The Wall That Heals is currently on display at the LBJ Presidential Library through April 28. It honors the nearly three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces during the Vietnam War and bears the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) is on a mission to put a face with each of the more than 58,000 names on The Wall.

The Wall of Faces is a national campaign to collect the photos of every American who died in the Vietnam War. To date, VVMF has collected nearly 46,000 photos. Fewer than 12,000 are still missing. Hays and Williamson counties still need 20 photos of local service members who fell during the Vietnam War.

VVMF encourages people to search through yearbooks, family photo albums, and newspapers.

Nine states have collected all of their photos – Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, New Mexico, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Hawaii. Four hundred and sixty four photos are still needed for the state of Texas.

"Hays and Williamson counties will be another milestone to reach as we work to honor every Texas veteran who died in the Vietnam War. We're calling upon everyone to help us remember the service and sacrifice by doing a little detective work. We can't let these service members be forgotten," said Jim Knotts, CEO of VVMF.

The photos of the fallen will appear online at VVMF's Wall of Faces at: http://www.vvmf.org/wall-of-faces as well on permanent display at the future Education Center at The Wall.

Photos can be uploaded directly to VVMF's website or via mail. For full details on how to submit a photo, please visit: http://www.vvmf.org/how-to-submit.

About VVMF and the Education Center at The Wall
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) is the nonprofit organization that built the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall) in Washington, D.C. in 1982. VVMF is dedicated to preserving the legacy of The Wall, promoting healing and educating future generations about the impact of the Vietnam War through programs, ceremonies, and education.

Three decades later, the mission continues as VVMF raises funds to build the Education Center at The Wall. The Center will be an interactive learning facility on the National Mall where our military heroes' stories and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The Education Center will feature the faces and stories of the more than 58,000 men and women on The Wall and honor America's Legacy of Service, including those serving in our nation's Armed Forces today. Time Warner is the Lead Gift Benefactor in the campaign to build the Education Center at The Wall.
